Animal Licensing Services
- Dog & Cat Licenses:

- All dogs and cats must be licensed at 6 months of age or within ten days of moving into the Township.
- An annual license must be obtained for dogs every January and cats every June.
- Dogs must have a rabies shot that does not expire before November 1st of the licensing year. Proof from the Veterinarian must be provided at the time of licensing.
- If the shot expires before November, the dog owner must obtain a booster for the dog or a letter of exemption from the Veterinarian due to medical reasons.
- Dog License fees:
- → Dogs neutered or spayed: $15.00
(proof required the first time)
- → Dogs not neutered or spayed: $18.00
- → Late fee (for all licenses): $25.00 (Late fee after January 31)
- New dog? Use this new dog application for a license. Renewals are mailed in December.
- Cats must have a rabies shot that does not expire before April 1st of the licensing year which runs from June to May of each year. Proof from the Veterinarian must be provided at the time of licensing.
- If the shot expires before April, the cat owner must obtain a booster for the cat or a letter of exemption from the Veterinarian due to medical reasons.
- Cat License fees:
- → Cats neutered or spayed: $15.00
(proof required the first time)
- → Cats not neutered or spayed: $18.00
- → Late fee (for all licenses): $25.00 (Late fee after June 30)
- New cat? Use this new cat application for a license. Renewals are mailed in May.
- Summons are issued to all animals that are not licensed. If you receive a summons, you must obtain a license before you pay the summons.
- Dog Park Passes

The Happy Hound Playground is located at Veteran's Memorial Field on Zeek Rd. in Denville.
Passes are available to both Denville residents and non-Denville residents.
Denville residents
- Annual fee: $35.00 plus a one-time fee of $10.00 for the magnetic gate key.
Non-residents
- Annual fee $50.00 plus a one-time fee of $10.00 for the magnetic gate key.
Required documentation for all passes
- Proof that the dog is licensed by a NJ municipality
- Proof that the dog is current on its shots (specific shots required are listed on the application)
- Proof that the dog has had a negative fecal test with the last 6 months.
- A completed dog park application form

- Rabies Clinics

- Free Rabies clinics are held twice a year for dogs and cats.
- Clinics are open to both residents and non-residents.
- Clinics are held at the Red Woof Inn Animal Pound located at Public Works.
- All animals must be either leashed or in carriers.
