With her death in 1979 at age 102, Caroline Foster’s beloved estate-farm “Fosterfields” became the first preserved “living historical farm” in New Jersey. Caroline’s father, Charles Foster, operated a Jersey cow breeding farm from 1881 to 1925 on the property which claims a farming tradition since the 1700s.
The farm features The Willows, a Gothic Revival-style house built in 1854 by former resident General Joseph Warren Revere, a grandson of Paul Revere. Fosterfields today portrays a working farm from the early 20th century. Various farm animals, costumed interpreters presenting daily farm and domestic life, and opportunities for first-hand participation create a timeless experience for the whole family.
Fosterfields Living Historical Farm, including The Willows, is a New Jersey and National Register Historic Site.
